Here it is, another Monday! Wow, where does the time GO??? This week’s Monday Management tips are simple, but of course, not easy. Give it a try anyway.
#1. If you can, cut OUT commuting – to anywhere! If you work from home already, great! If you work in an office, try really hard to work out a telecommuting situation. There’s no bigger waste of time, energy and resources than spending 10 hours just getting from one place to another. If you MUST drive to work, try using an app like Voice on the Go to help maximize your time. You can compose, listen to, and delete email, update your social media accounts, and even check traffic reports – all controlled only by your voice. (Five bucks a month, btw.)
#2. Be smart in how you communicate. I’m not saying to be unfriendly at all, but I try not to create open ended “chatty” conversations by email (or even in life). Getting sucked into a 20-minute “How’s it going” can mean 20 minutes less with my little girl at the end of the day. So, limit your use of questions when you’re short on time. Instead of “How are you this morning,” try the equally friendly comment: “It is so nice to see you today!”  This will stop email back and forth in its tracks.
#3. Pay attention to your workflow. This is one of the best strengths of OfficeTime, by the way. You can run a report based on client and task and absolutely KNOW what tasks you do best and when. If writing blogs takes you half the time at 6 am than it does at 6 pm, it’s easy to play to your strengths and maximize your effort – and earnings! Remember, time is the number ONE commodity in our lives.
